BOC-Val-Pro-Arg-AMC is a sensitive fluorogenic substrate for alpha-thrombin. The non-fluorescent substrate generates a bright blue fluorescent AMC product that has an emission spectra that can be easily detected with the DAPI filter set. The Km values of alpha-thrombin and the alpha-thrombin-staphylocoagulase complex for BOC-Val-Pro-Arg-AMC were reported to be 21 and 25 uM respectively. The Kcat values of alpha-thrombin and the alpha-thrombin-staphylocoagulase complex for BOC-Val-Pro-Arg-AMC were reported to be 105 and 89 s-1 respectively. This substrate has also been used for the rapid detection of MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus).
