This assay measures
activity of monoamine oxidase as well as plasma amine oxidase (PAO), or
semicarbazide-sensitive amine oxidase (SSAO), in biological samples including
blood samples. In the assay, MAO oxidizes monoamine to produce hydrogen
peroxide, which then reacts with a proprietary fluorescent dye in presence of
HRP to produce a red fluorescent product, resorufin. No separations step is
required. Signals increase with increasing MAO activity, and can be read with
both a fluorescence microplate reader at excitation at 540 and emission at
590 nm or an absorbance microplate reader at 576 nm. |
