Calcium, Ca, is a soft gray alkaline earth metal that is the fifth most abundant element in the earth’s crust. It is essential in living organisms because it moves in and out of the cytoplasm functioning as a signal for many cellular pathways and processes. It is the most abundant metal in many animals and is predominantly found in bones and shells.
In this assay, Calcium can be detected by using our chromogenic calcium indicator which can be read by an absorbance microplate reader at 600 nm or 650 nm.
