CD105 or END or CD105 (Endoglin) is an integral membrane glycoprotein. It is composed of a homodimeric unit with each subunit of 95 kDa. CD105 is a TGF-β (Transforming Growth Factor) receptor system component which acts as an ancillary receptor. It influences the binding of the TGF-β family of ligands to other signal receptors. Further, it can bind with high affinity to TGF-β3 and TGF-β1. However, it fails to bind with TGF-β2. Syncytiotrophoblasts of the placenta and vascular endothelial cells usually express the CD105. Stromalfibroblasts, activated macrophages, and U937 cells also weakly express the CD105. The expression of CD105 gets upregulated on endothelium which is activated, particularly in tissues going through angiogenesis, for example, dermal inflammation, wound healing or in tumors.
